Revealed! What Is It Wednesday

I was really hoping that I would have a full opening of these gorgeous purple flowers for this week's What Is It Wednesday. But, Stokes Aster is teaching me patience.

That's right, this week's What Is It Wednesday is Stokes Aster or Stokesia laevis for you science geeks out there. This showy purple flowering plant is a Florida native wildflower and brings pretty purple/lavender color to often times yellow and orange dominated gardens. They can also be used as cut flowers and will give you around 1 weeks worth of love in a vase.

Sadly, during our kickoff of What Is It Wednesday, we had no participants through this blog nor social media. The monetary value of this week's prize will be donated to the Cuplet Fern Chapter of FNPS. We will continue with another prize next Wednesday.
