Ascelpias tuberosa is a Florida native milkweed that grows well in sandy soils making it a great solution for gardens with dry sandy soil. No soil ammendments needed! The blooms are typically a solid orange-yellow color. This plant will go dormant in the winter. We recommend gardeners with butterfly gardens to plant this instead of Asclepias curassavica which is commonly sold at nurseries but may lead to negative effects in monarch health.
