Lanceleaf Tickseed is native to most of the United States and our plants are Florida ecotypes. Tickseed is a short-lived perennial wildflower that can becomes semi-dormant in the winter. The flowers will die back, but low growing green foliage will likely act as a perennial. In hard freezes, the whole plant may die and act as an annual. Although short-lived, it readily reseeds itself. Lanceleaf has all yellow flowers that bloom spring and summer. Compared to other Coreopsis varieties, Lanceleaf has a shorter blooming period but is one of the first to bloom in the year.
Tickseed is great for sandy soils and does not require irrigation. It can survive periods of drought.
It blooms best in full sun, but will tolerate most sun conditions.
Native range in Florida consists of parts of central Florida and the panhandle.
Our Tickseed grows best in zones 8 and 9.
