Purple Coneflower is a stunning FL native wildflower with large purple flowers that are sure to draw attention in the garden. Not only do they add great pops of purple flowers in the landscape, but bees and butterflies absolutely love them. Blooming from spring throughout fall, they are sure to stick around as they seed themselves. You will notice them go dormant in the winter.

Purple Coneflower acts as a short-lived perennial in northern FL and acts more like an annual the further south you go. It is important to try and find seeds or plants of this species that are the same ecotype as your area. Seeds and plants that are not FL ecotypes, tend to door poorly in Florida. They will not act as short-lived perennials and will not seed themselves as well. Our plants are FL native ecotypes.

Native to much of central and eastern U.S.

Natural range in FL is the FL - Ga line.

Prefers and blooms best in full sun. Will tolerate partial shade.

Enjoys soils that are usually moist but will tolerate short droughts.

Foliage tends to stay low to the ground while flower stalks can grow as tall as 3-5 feet.

Can be grown in zones 8b-9a. We push the limit here in central FL at 9b.
