This is a Florida Native Wildflower. It is a shortlived perennial that can self seed. In Seminole County, you can see this plant in full bloom each fall along the St. John's River. Eventually, if conditions are right, it will propagate itself in clusters. It grows best in moist soils along wetlands. It does not tolerate drought well. Not only does it attract pollinators, it also provides a much needed food sources to wildlife through its seeds.
We love Swamp Sunflower in rain gardens, along waterfronts, or in areas where irrigation can support the moisture needs. The flowers do not dissapoint!
