A spectacular FL native liatris with amazing purple flowers late in the year. These flowers grow at the end of tall stalks similar to goldenrod. Sometimes the flowers are so heavy that the stalks fall over. Purple flowers cover several inches of a stalk at one time. Best grown intermixed with other plants that help support it. Flowers attract butterflies and bees.
 
Liatris will bloom in the fall and then go mostly dormant in the winter. You may still see foliage low to the ground. Even if you don't, this plant will self seed itself in an area. 
 
While native to more than just FL, this plant is the FL ecotype.
