Marlberry is a FL native shrub that can grow to heights of 15-20 feet tall depending on where it is. It is an evergreen and has awesome white / pinkish blooms that occur randomly throughout the year. Following the blooms are dark colored berries which are edible although not desirable. These plants are often considered a "famine crop" meaning that they would only be considered as a last resort forage.
Even though the berries aren't desirable for human, other critters enjoy them. Flowers attract pollinators and berries feed wild birds and other animals.
These shrubs are awesome for the food forest, or the native garden where a shrub is needed.
