Florida Mountain Mint, Pycnanthemum floridanum, is a FL native plant in the mint family. It is considered a rare native species. There are different species all commonly called Mountain Mint. Please look at the species name to make sure this is the species you wish to buy. The common name is misleading, as it is obviously not found in the mountains of Florida! There are no mountains! This plant is actually naturally found in moist areas like ditches or low lying areas.

Like other plants in the mint family, it does have a fragrance. It is not as strong as peppermints or spearmints. Still, it has been used in teas as flavor.

Besides being edible, Mountain Mint is a great pollinator attractor for bees and butterflies. It blooms in clusters of small white to pink flowers. Blooms last from late spring through summer.
