Florida Betony is typically overlooked as a common lawn weed. But we disagree!!! The flowers are a great magnet for pollinators and it seems to establish itself well without care as long as the area stays moist. This seems to be why it is a problem among turf grass growers who constantly irrigate their lawns. 
 
Besides it attracting pollinators to your yard, it also has edible properties as well. The leaves can be eaten but do not have a pleasant flavor. So, we consider it a famine crop. You can also use the dried leaves in teas. There are a few medicinal uses listed. The most harvastable (is that a word) part of the plant is the tubers. The tubers offer a good source of nutrition while also still considered a famine crop.

Prefers soils that are usually moist but tolerates dry soils as well.
