This FL native wildflower is common along road sides and drainage ditches. It has grass like weeds and pretty purple flowers. The whole plant is said to be edible. This plant is well documented by accounts of Native Americans for its edible uses. Propagated by seed and rhizome. Popular among several pollinators.

It blooms spring - summer but the foliage remains all year. We love using this plant as a border or a front fow plant in a wildflower garden. It will spread itself well after the first year. It thrives on neglect.

Natural range in FL from north FL south to Highlands County

Prefers full sun or part shade. We grow this in all light conditions

Enjoys well draining soils and is drought tolerant.
