Upland Twinflower or Oblongleaf Twinflower, is given likely gets its name to distinguish it from its relative, Swamp Twinflower. In this case, the common names are telling in what conditions each plant prefers. Upland Twinflower is the taller and more tolerant of the two. It is naturally found in sandhills, flatwoods, and upland forests. The small purple flowers are attractive to pollinators and eaten by the tiny caterpillars of the Common Buckeye that host on it.
Upland Twinflower only gets around 10" tall which makes it able to be grown as a tall groundcover if desired. It can reseed and be propagated through division. We like using this plant as a border plant or around the base of small bushes.

Natural range in FL includes most of the state besides southeast FL and northwest FL.
Grows well in full sun or part shade.
Enjoys well drained soils and can tolerate short droughts.
Can be grown in zones 8-10.
